Being in the fashion industry is a tough business, but when she wants to become a trend setter, Natale Durante may have taken on more than she thought she was getting into. After receiving threatening letters her father hires a security firm to keep her safe, but one look at Salvatore Orsino and Natale is sure she isn’t going to be safe at all and not because the big gorgeous man can’t keep her safe. The question is is her heart safe?

The bear in Salvatore know right away that Natale is his, but can he keep her alive to claim her?

So far the many authors that have contributed to the Howls romance series has not disappointed yet and this book is no exception. This book contains hot wild love scenes, a little bit of mystery, danger and intrigue and one (or three) growly bears. Plus I love the fresh face on the cover of this book. He perfect for the part of Salvatore.

Description:
The head of Orsino Security was hired to protect her for a week. Instead, his bear wants to claim her forever.

It takes one look for bear shifter Salvatore Orsino to know that Natale Durante isn't just his client… she’s his mate. His first instinct is to lay Natale’s curvaceous body over his shoulder, find a den, and claim her with his bite. But, this beautiful head-strong woman only grudgingly endures his protection even as she welcomes him in her bed. He’ll have to set aside his bear’s need to mark her until he’s eliminated the threat to her life. Once she’s safe, he’ll turn all his energies convincing her that he isn’t after a short-term dalliance, he wants her, with him… forever.

Natale Durante knows that Durante Fashion House is on its last legs. Her new line, designed for women of every size and shape, is her last attempt at saving her family’s legacy. But there are those in high fashion who prefer that things stay the same—curves belong on the road, not the runway. When complaints and hate mail escalate to threats of bodily harm, her father hires a bodyguard—Salvatore Orsino. He’s over six feet of deliciously seductive muscular male and a distraction she can’t afford. One look from him and she wants her infuriatingly persistent protector to rip off her clothes with his teeth, or she might do the same to him.

Can Salvatore eliminate the threats to Natale or will he lose her before he has a chance to claim her?

Amy has just been fired from her job and gotten rid of an ex that was less than desirable. Now she needs to figure out what she's going to do with the rest of her life. She decides to leave her big city life for a while and head out to the woods to rethink what she wants to do with the future and maybe paint for a bit.

Dry Creek isn't like other forests. The forest is under the protection of bear shifters who are just waking from a long winter's nap. Griff is a bear shifter forest ranger. It is hit job to not only protect the forest and the people that live around it, but also protect a cave that has special powers. The bears know that war is coming. The lions used to protect the forest and the cave and they want it all back, but the bears can't let that happen. The bears know that the lions have been sniffing around and looking for a weakness to attack.

Amy doesn't know any of this. She sees a beautiful wilderness area where she can be alone and have some "me" time. She wants to try her hand out at painting and hopes to visit some of the pretty sites and paint.

Griff is Amy's new landlord he tries to warn her that the forest is dangerous and stay close to the cabin, but Amy is stubborn and doesn't want to listen. Griff maybe handsome and she certainly is attracted to him, but this is "me" time and Amy wants to be on her own.

Griff falls for Amy pretty fast but this isn't the time to get involved with someone. If the lions see that Griff has a weakness they'll use it to their advantage.

This book is a re-release with some rewritten parts. For the most part I like Griff, he tries his best not to be, well, an overbearing bear even though you can tell that isn't in his nature. No pun intended. Amy I have some serious problems with. Maybe if she was this stubborn in her last relationship she wouldn't have even started a relationship with her jerk of an ex.

I don't want to send off an spoilers, but I'll say I wish the writer would have set the beginning of the ending scene a different way. It just made Amy look a little stupid that she had gotten herself in that mess to begin with.

I liked the role of the villain, he was just the right amount of creepy.

I do believe this book is worth a read, and although the book has a HEA for this couple, there secondary story of the war between the bears and the lions is ongoing and if you want to know what happens there, you'll have to read the rest of the series.

Description:

Sexy shifter passion is awakened when two unlikely lovers are challenged by secrets, danger and an unstoppable need to claim one's mate…

For human Amy Francis, the secluded cabin in Deep Creek is the haven she needs to map out a fresh new start. She never expected her heart to be reawakened by a distraction like Griff Martin, commanding yet gentle, too ferociously sensual to ignore. It's clear that patrolling the forest is more than a job to Griff—it's a means of survival. But what Amy doesn't realize is she's reawakened the beast within him.

Griff's dormant hunger is stirred by this intoxicating woman…and threatened by the secret she must never learn. Duty-bound to defend his bear clan against an avenging pride of lion shifters, Griff's entire world is upended when he meets Amy. His animal need to claim his mate has taken hold, but that very desire could seal her fate as an unwitting pawn in battle.

Now, as a shifter war looms, Griff must decide between letting Amy go or following his most carnal instincts. To have her would change his life…but risk everything he knows and was born to protect.

While short this story offers a quick fun read with enough to give the reader a good insight into the couple and a beginning. I'd have liked to have had a little more of the story to read and get to know the characters better.

Romance Book Review: T.S. Joyce's Grey Back Bad Bear

Author: T.S. Joyce
Series Connection: Grey Back Bears
ISBN: N/A
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Shifter Romance, Bear Shifter Romance

Purchase Link: Amazon

As a child Willa and her friends agreed to spend a week together after they graduated from college. So much has happened since then, Willa didn't have much in common with the three bombshells she grew up with. Now sitting in a bar in the mountains, she can't believe that she didn't realize the reason she wasn't sitting on a beach with a tropical drink was because this town was filled with shifters. Shifters that her girl friends wanted to nothing more than to have hot and sweaty sex with and then move on with their lives.

That wasn't what Willa wanted at all. She was still a virgin with a capital "V".

That is until she meets bear shifter Matt. Keeping strictly to the friend category, Matt and Willa begin spending time together and it isn't long before Matt realizes that all his playboy days are behind him and he's met his mate, but now he has to convince both Willa and his crew of bear shifter lumberjack buddies that his mate belongs by his side.

I haven't laughed so hard in a long time while reading a romance. Willa is a gutsy, smart-mouthed person who blends perfectly with Matt. The couple works well together. I also didn't mind the shortness of the book, this time, because it worked well to introduce the characters and gave enough time to speak pull the couple together and was believable they would be able to make the HEA.

Description:
Matt Barns is on a mission. The goal of this mission? Find a mate before his broken bear drives him into madness. He knows exactly what he’s looking for, but when his bear finally settles for a mate, she dumps his world upside down. She’s funny, sure, but other than that, she’s not his type in any way. Or so he thought, because Willa is breaking down his walls and opening his eyes to a new life he thought he might never find.

Willamena Madden: smart-mouthed, fun-loving, loyal-to-a-fault, proud nerd and fragile human. She’s also somehow become the potential mate to a grizzly shifter. A shifter? She feels sorry for the critters and wishes humans would leave them alone, but Matt is proving he doesn’t need her pity. He’s a sexy, scarred up, growly beast-man, and she’s thinking he could be the one to finally take her V-card. But Matt’s hot and cold, and one of her friends is after a bucket-list werebear diddle with the man Willa’s falling for. And if that isn’t stressful enough, Matt’s Gray Back Crew is a loosely knit community of maniacs.

Matt feels important, but Willa has never been in more danger. If she can’t find a way to survive his people, she’ll have to go back to her safe life without her Gray Back Bad Bear.

**Brand new series from T.S. Joyce. Can be read as a standalone series. No cliff-hangers. Just a crew of lumberjack bad-a bear shifters, and the women strong enough to love them.**
