The story goes into all kinds of details about what it would be like to be a child, and then an adult, who is confused about what is going on around her. As a child Rachel's parents kept certain facts about her heritage from her, presumably because she is too young to understand what was really happening. Her parents split up when she is young and she is separated from her father and her foster brother.When she is older she suddenly meets her foster brother, Richard, again for the first time in 17 years. He knew about who and what he was when he was young. He understood that Rachel was to be his mate when they became older. Now suddenly Richard is in her life again and expecting things from her that she isn't sure she really wants.I adored Richard's character in the book. He was always calm and patient with Rachel. Rachel on the other hand was a pretty wishy-washy character. Not just because she's confused about what is going on, but also because it seems that she can't make up her mind. The whole you're my brother thing, didn't bother me as much as the whole you're my brother, but come "sleep" with me in bed. This woman is a lawyer, engaged to another man and still doesn't see the problem with "sleeping" with her brother? Otherwise this is a pretty good paranormal/shapeshifter book. It has nice descriptive visuals, which I really like.
