Romance Book Review: Pepper Anthony's Amber's Fantasy

Author: Pepper Anthony
Digital ISBN: 9781937325961
Genre: Erotic Contemporary Romance/ Interracial Romance/ Ménage
Publisher: Beachwalk Press

Purchase Link: Beachwalk Press

Amber Jackson is an up and coming executive in her firm. The rules are pretty clear, no dating between employees, but what is Amber suppose to do when she suddenly finds herself attracted to another employee at the firm. Ray Ferris is certainly handsome, but is he worth losing everything she has worked for?

Ray is certainly attracted to Amber and he doesn't believe that she is the ice princess that the other men call her at the office. He knows he should respect her ideals and stay away, but after he gets a look at the books he finds in a box in her office, he can't keep his mind off of her.

I sure hope that this book is the start of a series. I'm curious where the author would take Ray's shy cousin Cal. This is book is well written and I appreciate the characters aren't players and how much Ray's character wants Amber to have her fantasy.

Description:
If you had the chance to act out your secret fantasy, would you dare?

Ray Ferris is the first person to discover Amber Jackson's naughty secret desires. While helping her move some boxes, he stumbles on her stash of erotic romances featuring ménages. Despite a strict company policy prohibiting co-workers from dating, Amber finds herself inexorably drawn to Ray. She's never been attracted to a white man before, but his intriguing invitation to actually have sex with two men at one time captivates her imagination. When the barriers to their relationship are swept away, will Amber have the courage to finally act out her forbidden fantasy? And if she does, will the experience open doors to a whole new world, or cost her a chance at true love?

Content Warning: contains scenes of explicit sexual activity

Well written story, but a little too cliche. I liked Ann Jacobs take on it and as always with Ann Jacobs the love scenes are hot and steamy.

Lion's Heat (Breeds)

The long awaited Lion's Heat was released this week and it was well worth the wait. For those who are familiar with Lora Leigh's Breed Series, Jonas is a well known character. He's the mastermind behind many of the Breed matings over the last several books. Jonas is the Director of Breed Affairs, and no not the sexual affairs, although it might seem that way. As the Director, it is Jonas' job to take care of all of the Breeds and he takes his job seriously. So seriously that there are those who believe that Jonas is manipulative and plays games with other Breed's lives.

For those who don't know the story behind Lora Leigh's Breed Series, The Breeds' are a group of scientifically enhanced being who were created in a lab. Their DNA is made up of part animal/part human. In Jonas' case he is part lion. He is the son of the first Breed ever made "The Leo".

In Lion's Heat Lora Leigh answers as many questions to the long running series as she does bringing new mysteries and secrets to light. Readers get to see a whole other side to Jonas. Where as before he is presented as cunning and arrogant, he is now presented as a man who cares for the Breeds and is willing to put his life on the line for each and everyone of them. Callan, as the leader of the lions, Wolfe as the leader of the wolf pack and Del Gado as the leader of the coyote pack have all been introduced as the leaders of their own kind. Jonas is the conduit of all of them. Someone who has been there to keep justice for the Breeds as a cohesive group.

In Lion's Heat readers finally get a better look at Jonas' personal assistant, Rachel. In past books it was evident that there was a tie between the two, but she was pregnant with another man's baby and there was always the wonder of her being involved with someone else. In this book we learn that Rachel has been sent to be Jonas' new assistant through Callan mate Merrinus. She is efficent and Merrinus believes will be exactly what Jonas needs to keep him from self distruction.

With Rachel Jonas is a completely different man. He isn't brass and manipulative. He works to keep calm around her. He knows she's his mate, but he isn't quite sure that he wants to put Rachel in the danger her live will become if she is more involed with him. What he doesn't realize is that someone is already after her and while Jonas doesn't realize it, instead of going after him, the bad guys go after Rachel and her baby.

Now it doesn't matter anymore if he keeps away from Rachel. He needs her more than ever. Now all he is waiting for is from her to love him. Jonas isn't interested in Rachel just for the mating heat. He wants her love. What he doesn't realize is that that is the same as Rachel wants from him. Rachel isn't going to stand for anything but Jonas' heart. She knows he has one and she knows he's capable.

While the same old story line is there in the background, Lion's Heat adds more intrigue to the developing story. It also opens a new story line for future novels. Lora Leigh has said that she has stories already in mind for Cassie Sinclair and some of the others. Since Cassie is still young either the author will have to jump ahead some years in the story or she'll have to settle on one of the others regular characters to do the next story on. It will be interesting to see who she picks. Although, I think fans are waiting for Dane's story, I'm not sure we're ready quite yet to hear it.

Description:
The mating urge cannot be ignored...

Bad boy Jonas Wyatt knows it is fate that Rachel becomes his mate. He can sense it. He can also sense her reluctance. But she has little power over the mating heat of the Breeds. It is Jonas's destiny to claim her. And nothing will stop him from having his way.

Romance Book Review: Bonding Experience

Series Connection: Werekind 2
Author: Cora Zane
ISBN: 1-60088-037-1
Genre: Shifter/Bondage

YYYY

Luke has loved Claire for years, but she would never give him the time of day. Still burned from their experiences in high school, she finds it hard to except when her pack leader send her a mating contract between herself and Luke. Now she has to do some fast thinking to get out of the contract before Luke manages to convince her it is a perfect idea.

With Bonding Experience, Cora Zane provides an appealing, erotic story with a sexy alpha hero and a delightful sassy heroine. While Luke is at times arrogant he also has enough grace to be worried that he just might not get the woman he loves in the end.

Description:
When her pack leader issues a mating contract between herself and hotshot werewolf Luke Roman, Claire knows there must be some mistake. She doesn't know Luke very well, but she can't imagine two less compatible people being thrown together.

Luke has loved Claire for years, and he isn't about to let her undo what he's worked so hard to put into effect. When she refuses to discuss the pact with him, even when he follows her home, Luke finds a silk scarf on her dresser and decides to try other, more creative ways of getting Claire's undivided attention.

About the author from her Website:
Cora Zane has always held a fascination for the unknown, the dark things felt rather than seen, strange occurrences that fall into the realm of the paranormal, and the creatures that stalk the night.

In 2005, when she announced to her family that she had written a story about werewolves, they were shocked to discover it was a romance - and an erotic one at that. Two years and string of novellas and short stories later, they've finally accepted her naughty imagination, and her belief that lost souls need love too.

Cora lives in rural North Louisiana with her husband, two children, and two grumpy old watch dogs.
