Romance Book Review: Marisa Chenery's Love Everlasting

 Author: Marisa Chenery
Series Connection: Wolves of East Anglia
ISBN: 978-1-59578-948-8
Genre: Paranormal/ Shifter/ Werewolf
Publisher: Liquid Silver

Before reading the current in the Wolves of East Anglia series I went back and read all of the series over again. As with the rest of the series, Love Everlasting recaps the history of the warriors past and how they came about being the immortal warriors of the God Tiw, who commissions them to kill off all of the Fenris', (son of the God Loki), Get or the werewolves of today's world who are bent on killing mortals.

In the latest edition we get to see Brand finally get to met his mate. Seven years go Brand found his mate, however she was only 16 and he didn't really understand his wolf's reaction to her back then. Now she's old enough and has broken her engagement to another man and Brand is taking his chance while he can.

Each book in the series follows the same basic suit. A mortal woman must decide if she can take on eternity with a sexy warrior and become his immortal bride.

Description:
For the last seven years, Brand has only longed to make Elsa his mate. After meeting her when she's sixteen and having to wait until she's old enough to claim her, his chance to make her his seems to slip through his fingers. But when the opportunity comes to win her, he acts quickly.

Having to deal with her idiot ex-fiancé, Elsa is more than happy to see Brand arrive to take her ex's place. She falls hard and fast for Brand, but he comes with a world she doesn't understand a disturbing world that makes it hard to accept the love Brand offers her, no matter how much she wants to.

Dolf is certain Maggie is his mate, but her terror toward his kind is keeping them apart. Worse yet, he has no idea how to win over her heart and, just as importantly, her trust. Romance Book Review: Marisa Chenery's Miles Redemption

Author: Marisa Chenery
Series Connection: Roxie's Protectors
ISBN 978-1-59578-960-0
Genre: Paranormal/ Shifter/ Werewolf
Publisher: Liquid Silver Books

In the final installment to Marisa Chenery's of the Roxie's Protectors series, the infamous bad boy Miles meets his mate. For hundreds of years Miles made his mission in life to find the foretold one, bring her under his control so he could be the ruler of the werewolves. That all changed after meeting his daughter and learning she was the foretold one. Miles became a changed man.

Looking for his mate wasn't something Miles was keen on doing. After meeting and falling in love with his daughter's mother years ago, a human woman who wasn't his mate, Miles had no intent of falling for another woman. After urging from his daughter however, Miles goes on an arranged date, only to be stood up by one woman, but to meet his mate at the restaurant. Now he has more of a reason to stay on the straight and narrow, but can Miles remain good, after he hears the secret his daughter has been keeping?

I'm sorry to see the Roxie's Protector series go. All the books were short and offered a quick look at each of the protectors and their trials of finding a mate and trying not to finish the mating process before they tell their mortal mates who and what they are.

Description:
Miles knew using Dirk’s online dating service wouldn’t be the best way to find his mate and is proven right when his date stands him up. But his bad luck turns to good when his would-be mate walks through the restaurant’s doors.

Kareena has been on a dating dry streak since her fiancĂ© of seven years dumped her the year before. She wants the hottie who sits close to her and her friends’ table to be the one to end it, but she doesn’t have enough nerve to go up and talk to him. But after meeting Miles, her life ends up going in a direction she never thought existed. And she soon learns she is the only thing that can secure Miles’s redemption.

Ooops! I can't believe I almost missed it. I was searching through the blogs today and read that Marisa Chenery's new Roxie's Protectors will be out next month, but then noticed that I'd completely missed Dirk's story.

Dirk had also seemed like the sensitive nerd of the bunch, always upstairs in Roxie's computer room with Roxie playing with some computer program or another. Now we get to finally see what Dirk has been working on.

With all of his Brother-In-Arms mated, Dirk is missing finding his mate like his long-time friends. He's come up with an idea. He's created a dating website for werewolves to find their mates. Little does he know that he's been chatting with his own mate over the phone for the past couple of weeks, but on their first meeting he can't miss the fact that Ryann is all his.

Now he has to figure out how to broach the subject of just what he is to her. Not to mention that she comes with a little baggage herself.

This series is a quick read and should be read in order, starting with the first series Wulf's Den. They are nicely written shorts making up one whole story.

Description:
Dirk has worked tirelessly to create an online dating service to help male werewolves find their mortal mates. Having hired a mortal female to assist him, when he meets her face-to-face for the very first time, Dirk is smitten with her beauty and finds himself breathless as he realizes the very thing he’s spent a lifetime looking for—his mate—is finally within his reach. Her proximity alone sets his mating urge off in an instant.

Ryann, completely absorbed with raising her precious son for the last two years, has been without a man in her life for far too long. But when she sees Dirk in person for the very first time and he reawakens the sexual cravings of her neglected body, Ryann hungers not only for his touch but also yearns for the day her new boss will think of her as more than just his employee. She doesn’t have long to wait because it turns out Dirk has been searching for her his whole life.

In continuation to the Roxie's Protector's series Marisa Chenery brings readers book 4 and the related series Wulf's Den.

After accidentally finding his mate while stopped at a stoplight in the middle of a busy San Francisco intersection, Skylar has every intention of telling exact what he is and what it would mean to mate with him. As a werewolf of more than 1,000 years old he is one of the foretold one's, Roxie's, protectors and has vowed to protect her at all cost, but more than that anyone who mates with a werewolf is in for a life change. Aside from the whole there aren't suppose to be werewolves in real-life, there is the fact that once connected there is no turning back you are joined with your mate for life...a very long life.

Braelyn is a supermodel for Victoria Secret and on a vacation at home when she meets the very sexy Skylar. Once she finds out that he's a bodyguard of sorts, she wonders if he might not just want to become her new boyfriend, but also if he might be able to help her with a stalker.

I almost completely missed this continuation of the series, which would have been disappointing because I like the general theme and quick reads of both Roxie's Protectors and Wulf's Den. Luckily I happen to notice that the new book in the series, Kye's Heart, came out last week at Liquid Silver Books.

Skylar's Devotion didn't disappoint. This is a series that should really be read from the beginning because each of the books are short and the full story is told the snippets in each book. It won't take readers long to catch up. This book, however, only tells a little bit of the secondary series story and concentrates mostly on Skylar and his new ladylove Braelyn. Enjoy.

Description:
A famous Victoria's Secret fashion model, Braelyn comes home to visit her parents after being away for a year. On a shopping trip, a man on a motorcycle at the red light snags her attention while she crosses the street. When she draws even with him, he flips open the visor of his helmet, and she instantly forgets what she's doing. A blast from a car horn makes her aware she's standing in the middle of the crosswalk, and she quickly gets moving.

Skylar follows the beautiful blond with his gaze, watching where she goes. Sitting at a red light is not the place he expects to run into his would-be mate, but there she was. Determined not to let her get away, he follows her. He finds it hard enough to deal with her being mortal and not knowing anything about werewolves, but the bigger problem is the stalker who wants to do his famous mate more harm than good.

After Nika's previous boyfriend leaves her for another woman, she finds herself the owner of a pub in a foreign country and a new man whose coming on strong. Nika isn't all that interested in getting involved with another man, but Garrick's good looks and won't quit style makes her rethink her decision to stay away from men.

Garrick knows that Nika is his mate the minute he sees her at the pub, now all he had to do was convince her without scaring her away. There are more problems than just the fact that Garrick is a werewolf and Nika doesn't have a lot of trust in men right now.

This is the third installment to the Wolves of East Anglia series. This story can  be read on its own. Good third book in the series with story similar to the previous installments.

Description:

Romance Book Review: Roxie's Protectors-Leif's Surrender

Author: Marisa Chenery
Series Connection: Roxie's Protectors
ISBN:  978-1-59578-772-9
Genre: Paranormal/ Shifter/ Werewolf
Publisher:  Liquid Silver Books

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

In continuation of her Roxie's Protector series, Marisa Chenery tells brother-in-arms story Leif. In previous stories we learn that Roxie is the foretold one who would be stronger than all the werewolves and leader of all the packs. The Protectors have spent one thousand years training to be her protectors when she is found.

Leif has watched two of his brothers and his sister-in-arms find their mate. He long ago decided he would never claim his mate if he found her. He was too easily bored with the women he met in the past. Another couple of thousand years was too long to live without a mate.

That was before a simple trip to the grocery store to find Roxie some ice cream changed everything when the checker turned out to be his mate.

Jaden is alone in life. The only family she had, her mother, died years ago. She lives her quiet life as best she can with a low paying job. Leif wants to take her away from all that. She won't have to work at the job that she really doesn't like any more and she can move in with him and his family in a big mansion. If all that wasn't enough she truly had fallen for the handsome man.

But will she be able to live with who and what Leif is? Life is just full of surprises for Jaden.

Leif's Surrender is the third book in the Roxie's Protectors series and then their were five books in the Wulf's Den series that started the whole story line from the beginning. I like the series, but this book basically follows the same path as the two before it, including how the women in the Protectors series all come to the aide of their mates in the end.

Other than that this is a nicely written book with some really hot sex scenes and a great twist at the end leaving readers wondering where the author will take the characters on the next book.

Description:
Jaden notices the sexy hunk in her cashier’s line. But she knows, with her plain looks and glasses, he'd never notice her. So when he returns to the grocery store the next day and kisses her senseless in front of everyone, she can only hope she'll see him again.

Leif swears he will never be permanently mated, but when he feels his mate at a grocery store while buying pregnant Roxie ice cream, his world turns upside down. Drawn to his would-be mate, he finds fighting his mating urge is harder than he expects. If he can only hold out long enough to let nature run its course, he can get on with his life. But resisting her is impossible, and he needs to claim her as his.

Romance Book Review: Jager's Mate

Author: Marisa Chenery
Series Connection: Roxie's Protectors/ Wulf's Den
ISBN: 978-1-59578-718-7
Genre: Paranormal/ Werewolf/ Erotic Romance
Publisher: Liquid Silver

As the foretold one Roxie is in great danger of those who want to control her and gain control of all the wolf shifters. For thousands of years Jager and his brothers and sister in arms have trained to protect the foretold one.

The immediate threat to Roxie is a former protector. Miles is working to unite the lone wolves. Jager confronts one of those lone wolves in an alley late one night, but rather than take in the lone wolf, he finds something much more valuable in the alley that late evening.

Out on her regular nightly patrol, Daylen sees two men fighting with swords in a dark alley. As a cop who has seen nearly everything, this is a surprise to Daylen. Going to break up the fight she fearlessly goes into the alley on her own.

Jager's Mate is another in the short story series of Roxie's Protectors. The general theme of the story is predictible. Daylen is human and knows nothing of the Were world. She is thrown into the mix quickly when she is kidnapped to use as a pawn. I like Daylen's strong willed character and Jager, who is basically been rude and abnoxious in the previous books finally shows some other character traits.

Description:
Daylen is a cop, and a good one. When she stumbles on two men sword fighting in an alley during one of her nightly patrols, she confronts them and orders them to put down their weapons. Ignoring her, one of the men takes off running faster than she's seen anyone move. With one man left, she knows she'll have to take him down when he ignores her demand that he lay his sword on the ground and slowly approaches her. Just before she can cuff him, he pins her to the alley and kisses her senseless.

Knowing the lady cop is his mate, Jager likes that she was able to get the drop on him. No wilting flower would ever survive as his mate. After tasting her lips for the first time, he knows it won't be easy to claim her as his. She may be a mortal and he a werewolf, but the bigger problem standing between them would be his having to stop Daylen from trying to arrest him whenever they meet. As their passion flares, he'll do anything it takes to make her his mate.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Roan's Fall is a novella that goes along with the Wulf's Den series. After doing several of the Wulf's Den series, Marisa Chenery changed over to Roxie's Protectors, still using several of the same characters from the Wulf's Den series and adding a few more.

In Wulf's Den you meets Roxie, the "chosen one" who is now in charge of all the packs. Roan and his brothers and sister in arms have trained for 1,000 years to protect Roxie. In Roan's Fall, Roan finds his mate when he is protecting Roxie. Roxie, going about her routine, goes to the hairstylist to get her hair done. When Roan sees Ansley, Roxie's hairstylist, he knows he has meet his mate.

Like the other werewolves around him, Roan doesn't know how to tell Ansley he is a werewolf. What will happen when she finds out.

This series really should be read completely. Marisa Chenery is still working on this series. The next one is due out next month and is called Jager's Mate.

Description:
As a hair stylist, Ansley has seen and cut a lot of people's hair, but when Roxie shows up for her appointment with a very large, gorgeous man, Ansley can't take her eyes off him. Nor can she stop her body's reaction to Roan when Roxie asks her to cut his hair as well. But things seem to go steadily downhill when Ansley's curse, her ability to say the first thing that comes to mind when around a man she is attracted to, rears its ugly head. When Roan growls at her to hurry up, Ansley knows her mouth has done it to her again.

Even through the harsh chemical smells in the hair salon, Ansley's scent is like a punch in the gut to Roan. Knowing she is his mate, and a mortal, has him fighting the urge to claim her as his own. Hoping to ease into telling her he is a werewolf, Roan prays he has the control to take things slow. But when it comes to Ansley, he must fight the wolf inside him or risk scaring away the one woman that was meant for him.

Romance Book Review: His She-Wolf Warrior

Author: Marisa Chenery
Series Connection: Wulf's Den
ISBN:  978-1-59578-591-6

Genre: Paranormal/ Shifter/ Werewolf
Publisher:  Liquid Silver Books

Not my favorite in the Wulf Den series book five in the series tells the story of Billie and Finn's brother Eli. Eli is the last of the York children to find a woman. His sister Billie is determined to find someone for him. While he is sitting in Wulf's Den on evening he meets Saskia.

Saskia is a warrior who has trained for hundreds of years to be part of the protection team for the chosen one, Roxie. She and her brothers-in-arms come to the Wulf's Den to lend their support. There she sees Eli and knows for the first time she wants to make love to a human. But as far as she is concerned a human could never be her mate.

This is a short story that was just a little too rushed for me. It would have been nice to go into more detail on the background of the team of protectors.

Description:
Eli vowed he would never tie himself to one woman. But when he sees a lone werewolf female at Wulf's Den with six large male werewolves at her back, he finds himself instantly attracted to her.

Saskia and her brothers in arms have come to Wulf's Den in search of the foretold one, the one they have trained most of their long lives to protect. What she didn't expect was to have one of her visions while there. Or to see that she and the male mortal who looks at her with hunger in his eyes would eventually end up in bed together.

As Eli and Saskia try to sort through the feelings of an unexpected mating, a new enemy rises to threaten Roxie in her position as the foretold one. An enemy that could end their mating prematurely.

I've been reading the Wulf's Den series from the beginning and am increasingly becoming impressed with Marisa Chenery's style of writing. I think Mated To A Wolf is the most erotic of all the series so far.

This edition to the series features, Billie's brother Finn. When last we saw Finn he was kidnapped by Gren to be used in his experimental magic spell to create a werewolf from a human. The experiment is unsuccessful, but it does leave Finn with some unwanted new abilities.

In Mated To A Wolf, Finn is drawn to the Wulf's Den. He doesn't quite know why because he hates werewolves, but one night he meets the wolf who is his mate Jocelyn. Not everyone is happy about the mating between Finn and Jocelyn, however, because Finn is human and they set out to take Jocelyn away from Finn.

Description:
Finn York had a bad experience with werewolves. Marked emotionally and physically from the experience, his aversion causes him to fight the attraction he feels for the female werewolf he meets at Wulf’s Den. Yet her scent draws him with the irresistible power of a werewolf’s mating instinct.

Jocelyn works as a waitress at Wulf’s Den. She’d noticed Finn months before but the sudden changes in him confuse her. When she serves him drinks one night he growls and sniffs the air as if he can smell her arousal and Jocelyn’s confusion escalates. But her interest in Finn heightens and she plots a way to force him to overlook his disgust to claim her as his mate.

Romance Book Review: Taryn's Wolf

Author: Marisa Chenery
Series Connection: Wulf's Den
ISBN:  978-1-59578-474-2
Genre: Paranormal/ Shifter/ Werewolf
Publisher:  Liquid Silver Books

In her continuation to the Wulf's Den series, Marisa Chenery tells Beowulf's brother, Wade's, story. Wade has been living with Beowulf and Roxie for a while now and getting lonely thinking of his long life alone without a mate when he enter Wulf's Den and gets a whif of something sweet smelling. Following his instincts leads him to Taryn, the human that is to be his mate. Taryn has been to Wulf's Den to try to interest Beowulf in purchasing the wine she makes from her winery. Wade's first encounter with Taryn doesn't go too well, but that doesn't stop him from chasing after her back to her winery and convincing her that they are perfect for each other.

Taryn can't believe that someone as gorgeous as Wade would be interested in her, but she has other things to worry about. It is harvest season and for some reason suddenly she can't enough workers to help out at the winery. Not to mention that suddenly wild wolves have been hanging out around her property.

Taryn's Wolf is a nice second edition to the series. This is a series that the author recommends is read in order and so far I have to agree. In the first book readers are introduced to Roxie and her new found abilitites. This book Roxie is back and learning more about her skills as the one that the wolf prophecy says will unite all the wolf packs together. The next book in the series is called Seducing the Wolf.

Description:
Having inherited her uncle's winery, Taryn Davies goes to Wulf's Den hoping to sell her wines to Beowulf, the owner. While there, she meets Wade, Beowulf's brother. Even though she is instantly attracted to him, her past makes it hard for her to accept his advances.

Catching a whiff of Taryn's lingering scent inside Wulf's Den, Wade is determined to make her his. But when their first meeting doesn't go as he would have liked, Wade follows Taryn to her winery, The Pines.

As Wade tries to win Taryn over, he has to find a way to explain that he is a werewolf. Little does he know another werewolf has Taryn in his sights, one who means her no good.

Romance Book Review: Wulf's Den-Beowulf and Roxie

Author: Marisa Chenery
Series Connection: Wulf Den
ISBN: 978-1-59578-422-3
Genre: Werewolf/ Shapeshift/ Urban Legend/ Paranormal
Publisher: Liquid Silver Books

YYYYY

I'm on one of my series reading binges again. While reading Marisa Chenery's Jinx and Her Werewolf I started checking out Marisa's website (http://www.marisachenery.com) and found a series that looked interesting. The Wulf Den series features five books, plus one the author started as a spin off series.

After seeing Marisa's website I realized I actually purchased a couple of the books from the series a while back, but never got a chance to read the book. (Yes I do that a lot more than I should. I have a box and a computer full of books I haven't had a chance to read.) What originally sparked my interest in Beowulf and Roxie, the first book in the series, was the title and that the story held the theme of the 1,400 year old story of Beowulf and Grendel. Most will remember the story from high school readings. At the time I purchased Beowulf and Roxie my son was doing a report on the original story of Beowulf poem.

In this version of the ancient story, Marisa has created two long, and I mean long, time rivals. Beowulf and Gren. Both characters are immortal and have lived through the centuries evenly matched and hating each other. As in the original poem, Grendel hates Beowulf because Beowulf killed Grendel's mother. Aside from reveling that Beowulf and Grendel are one and the same from the original characters in the favorite poem, there really is no other similarities.

This Beowulf and Gren are werewolves. Beowulf owns a night club in San Francisco called Wulf Den. One night Beowulf's mortal mate steps into his club. Roxie is everything he wants in a mate and falls instantly in love with her. Gren sees this as a chance to get even with Beowulf and decides to go after Roxie. But Roxie has a few surprises of her own.

So far the first book has sparked my interest in this series. I liked both Roxie and Beowulf's characters. Roxie certainly shows she can be a kick butt, take no prisoners kind of girl.

The next book in the series is: Taryn's Wolf. I'll be getting to it shortly, but as usual there are other books I'm plugging my way through first.

Description:
When Roxie and her friend, Candice, decided on a girls' night out she didn't realize the Wulf's Den would be more than she had anticipated. But Roxie soon learned to expect anything. The presence of a super-abundance of super good looking men surprised her and when the best of the bunch stared at her as if he wanted to devour her, surprise turned to amazement.

Beouwlf recognized her as his mate the instant she crossed his path and her scent filled his lungs. But he had to overcome one hurdle. She was not one of his kind--a werewolf. He had waited for years to find his mate and he would claim her even if she was a mortal. He would soon teach her all about werewolves.

Roxie is caught up in strange events. Archaic markings appear on her wrist, and strong forces threaten to tear her away from her love as two other male werewolves try to claim her as their own. Would Roxie and Beowulf be able to keep the bond love had forged or would they lose each other forever?

YYYYY

Strange Hollow is a town where supernatural who has a few quicks come live in a safely and without judgment.

Daken is an alpha werewolf whose wolf half doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. All that Daken's wolf wants to do is play. Forced to leave his pack and his chance as alpha, Daken moves to Strange Hollow forced to live out his long live alone. At least that was what he thought until one day he finds his mate is having car trouble right outside his door.

Thora is used to being jinxed so when her car breaks down in Strange Hollow she decides that this town is just as good as any other to relocate in, especially when she gets a look at the man who comes to help her fix her car. As much as Thora wants to fall in love with Daken and live happily ever after in Strange Hollow she know that the curse that has her jinxed, also has other worse features that could hurt Daken.

Strange Hollow is a new series of books by different authors Liquid Silver Books. This book and Wary Wolf are the first installments to the series. The love story between Daken and Thora is so sweet. I especially love Daken's playful wolf. The love scenes throughout the book are definitely hot. This is a great start for what promises to be a fun series.

Description:
As a jinx, Thora has had to move around a lot. When her car breaks down stranding her in Strange Hollow, she figures the town is as good a place as any to stay for a while. When she meets Daker, he is just one more reason for her to stay.

A werewolf, Daker knows Thora is his mate, but her being a mortal just adds one more reason to take things slow with her. Not only does he have to find a way to tell her he is a werewolf, and she is his mate, he has to explain that the residents of Strange Hollow aren't exactly what they seem.

After Daker claims Thora as his mate, Thora knows they can never be, not with her curse hanging over her head. She may be cursed to be a jinx for the rest of her life, but she's also destined to kill the man she gives her heart to. Not wanting to be the cause of Daker's death, she has to fight her feelings for him or watch the man she loves die.

About the author from her Website:
I always loved to read, but once my kids started coming the number of books I read a week increased. The books varied from science fiction to historical fiction. After reading a historical romance novel I found myself hooked. I couldn't get enough of them. My love of historical romances soon evolved into wanting to write one of my own. Along with historicals I've tried my hand at paranormals, my latest obsession.

I live in Ontario, Canada with my husband and four children. Between looking after my kids and going to the gym a couple times a week I write about passionate women and the compelling men who love them. l
