Romance Book Review: Devon Cream

Author: Jet Mykles
ISBN: 978-1-60168-188-1
Genre: Contemporary Romance/ M/M

When Steven meets he new neighbor it is almost love at first sight. He takes the new man under his wing and helps he adapt to life in the city. Things couldn't be any better except for one little problem, Devon is straight and Steven would love more from him than just friendship.

This is a nice quick feel good story. Steven works hard to help his fellow neighbor in need and his next door neighbor, Patty is a kick and adds a little spice to the story.

Description:
When Steven helps his neighbor Devon move into the studio apartment upstairs, he can't help but drool. And that's all. Devon is straight and totally off limits. Knowing, though, doesn't stop the desire Steven fights every time the two men are together, which is a lot since Steven has decided to take Devon under his wing until the young man can get his life together.

About the author from her website:
As far back as junior high, Jet used to write sex stories for friends involving their favorite pop icons of the time. To this day, she hasn’t stopped writing sex, although her knowledge on the subject has vastly improved.
An ardent fan of fantasy and science fiction sagas, Jet prefers to live in a world of imagination where dragons are real, elves are commonplace, vampires are just people with special diets and lycanthropes live next door. In her own mind, she’s the spunky heroine who gets the best of everyone and always attracts the lean, muscular lads. She aids this fantasy with visuals created through her other obsession: 3D graphic art. In this area, as in writing, Jet’s self-taught and thoroughly entranced, and now regularly uses this art to illustrate her stories or her stories to expand upon her art. Only recently, through the wonders of the digital age, has Jet, a self-proclaimed hermit, been able to really share this work with others.
In real life, Jet lives in southern California with her boyfriend of over a decade, his daughter and father and too many cats. She has a bachelor’s degree in acting, but her loathing of auditions has kept her out of the limelight. So she turned to computers and currently works in product management for a software company, because even in real life, she can’t help but want to create something out of nothing.

Crimson Ties / Continuum of Longing / Odd Man Out

It has been a year since Aidan has seen his former lover, Zane. Zane has come and gone from Aidan's life for years and while it had bothered Aidan, he didn't make an issue of it. Now everything has changed. Aidan is no longer the man that Zane left behind. A terrible car accident has now left Adian blind. Not believing that he can have a relationship with Zane, or any man, he tries to keep Zane at arms length.

Zane doesn't want to hear any of that. Long before he came back home to Aidan, Zane had decided he was tired of his own vagabond lifestyle and decided it was time to settle down with the man he loved. Now he just had to convince Aidan that he was ready to stay for good and that it didn't matter about Aidan's blindness.

This is a nicely written short story with well developed characters and plot. Claire Thompson, who usually writes fabulous BDSM and M/M stories in various genres, has once again presented a well thought out book that deals with some very serious and sensitive issue.

Description:
Blinded in a car accident, Aidan retreats into a world of quiet determination.

Enter Zane Wilde. Refusing to let Aidan withdraw into the darkness, Zane won't take no for an answer. With sexual mastery Zane pulls Aidan into the light of touch and sensation, taking the blinded man to new heights of sensual experience and learning for himself what it is to give over, to surrender in the dark.

But as scorching as their intensity burns, Zane's wild gypsy blood is simmering, his wandering nature coming to the fore. To stay or go, that is the question.

Though Internet exchanges the two become close friends, but Matt still doesn't know that Rose is actually Thomas. Now it is time to meet and it is anyone's guess how Matt will react.

About the author from the back of her book:
By day, Shayla Kersten is a mild-mannered accountant. By night, she’s a writer of sexy romances. Torn between genres, Shayla writes erotic stories about hot heroes and their sexy women as well as hot men and their passionate heroes.

A native of Arkansas, Shayla spent four years in the Army as a missile specialist, stationed in Germany and Oklahoma. After her enlistment was up, she spent eleven years in New York City taking a bite out of the Big Apple. Even her love of theatre and the nightlife of the big city couldn’t cure terminal homesickness for the Natural State. In 1995 she returned to her roots in Arkansas.

Shayla now divides her time between her mother, her spoiled-rotten dogs, her dratted day job and her obsession—writing. And no, her mother doesn’t know what she writes. That’s between Shayla, her dogs and her readers!
