Romance Book Scene: Cherie Nicholls' Claiming Clara

Author: Cherie NichollsSeries Connection: Shifters of Hillside
ISBN 978-1-59578-962-4
Genre: Paranormal/ Shifters/ Werewolves
Publisher: Liquid Silver Books

In the second book in the Shifters of Hillside, Alpha Heath's sister Clara is in full protective mode. Clara isn't a wallflower if someone makes a threat against herself or someone in her family she's more than willing to take on the challenge and show that person, or wolf, the era in of his ways. That is of course if her brother of the man who wants to be her mate, Harvey "Wall" Wallbanger, will let her.

Wall has found the woman he wants to be his mate, but for some reason he can't convince her to take his bite and now he knows she's hiding something from him. Wall won't stop until he finds out.

Not a bad story, however, a little short. Finding out more of a background story would have been a benefit for the story. I also would have liked to see a little more of the background relationship between the couple to believe the level of commitment to the given relationship of the couple.

Description:
Harvey “Wall” Wallbanger—yes his mother actually named him that on purpose—likes to act the simple jock, but he isn't. He is a man who knows what he wants, and right now, he wants one Miss Clara Marsterson. When she refuses his mark to make her his mate, Wall stands unmovable in her path, demanding an explanation. Before he lets her go, she’s going to have to explain to him why she is throwing everything they have away. Wall knows she is hiding something from him and sets his mind and his body to getting the truth. After all, he is a man of many talents…

Clara is a woman who has supported her brother's rise to Alpha, stood by him through everything, and will now do what she can to protect him from those who want to cause him harm. She turns away from the only man who understands her in an attempt to save both the men she loves. To protect them no cost is too high … not even if the price is her own life.

The first in this new series, Cherie Nicholls, offers a new werewolf series featuring a strong heroine, Laney, who has been attracted to hero, werewolf, Heath for years. She's finally decided it is time to show Heath what she is made of.

Dressing up one evening she sets out to seduce him and succeeds pretty well, but Heath is worried. He needs a female who can be an alpha to his pack and as a human Laney just doesn't have that ability. To top it off she has a family that is over protective of her.

Whatn he doesn't realize and what everyone tries to tell him is Laney is a lot stronger than she looks.

This looks like a promising series although the first book was somewhat predictable. It will be interesting to see where she goes with the characters of the Hillside pack.

Description:
Mechanic Laney St. Clair doesn’t want much in life. All she wants is to run her father’s garage as she sees fit, her brothers to stop treating her like she is still their baby sister, and for Heath Marsterson to realise that under all the grease and overalls she is a grown woman, ready, willing, and able to show him just how talented her hands can be.

Heath’s an alpha shifter who knows he needs a mate to help him rule. A strong woman who can stand with him and up to him when needed, a woman who can help keep his pack safe. What he doesn’t need is a fragile human whose family protects her as if she’s made of spun glass. No matter how persuasive little Laney-girl tries to be or how much he wants her, Heath knows she’ll never be strong enough to handle his true self no matter what she says, moans, screams…
