In her first life Jace was a quiet book reader who loved languages, but forced into the life of living in a cult by her crazy mother and eventually married to the false profit of the group. That was her life until her husband kills her and she comes back to life as she's being buried in the woods.

In her second life she is a sister of the Crows, who just so happens to get a little crazy, Berserker sometimes. As a crow she gets to fight for the her God, "Skuld" taking out evil.

Worried for Jace's sanity her sister Crows convince Jace to take on a job. It just so happens at the same time a fellow clan, the Protectors, have asked Jace to help them translate some books.

As Jace spends time with the Protectors, Jace can't help but notice how sexy the second in command, Ski is.

Ski takes care of all the Protectors. He knows the whole group would fall apart if he didn't keep his brother's lives running. The group is so wrapped up in their books and protecting humans, that they forget about everything else.

When the chance to get pretty Jace to help he and his brothers on a project he is excited to get to spend some time with her. So much so he finally asks her out on a date. The only problem is Jace's immediate rejection. But Ski isn't giving up.

In true Shelly Laurenston style, crazy chaos takes place throughout the whole book. The story is fast moving and action packed. Filled with blood and gore and hilarious and mocking humor. This book is definitely not for the faint of heart.

While the band of Crows and the other clans work to make sure an evil God is banished from earth, as well as keep Jace's ex-husband from getting his hands on Jace, the reader gets the chance to meet several Crows sisters and the Protector brothers, as well as revisit several of the Ravens from the first book. There is bound to be more crazy characters in future books. Those who love Shelly Laurenston's Pride series and have yet to check out the Call of Crows series, should start with the first book in the series The Unleashing (Amazon) before reading this book. It will be well worth the read.

Description:

No one would ever accuse Jace Berisha of having an easy life--considering her husband…you know…killed her. But that was then! Now she fights for mighty Viking gods with the spectacular and vicious Crows.

But things are turning very bad, very quickly because a vengeful, ancient goddess has come into the world with just one thing on her mind--ending it. And the only way they can hope to stop her is if the Crows join forces with their one-time enemies, the Protectors. A Viking Clan created to do nothing but kill every Crow they see.

Thankfully, Protector Ski Eriksen is a peace loving kind of guy. Because the woman he is desperately trying to get close to is the beautiful and not-very-chatty Jace. Battling Nordic clans? Unkillable goddesses? Jace's mean-spirited dog? None of these things would ever get in the way of a true Viking!

“If you enjoy outrageous scenarios, witty banter, and hilariously over-the-top characters, look no further than Shelly Laurenston’s Call of Crows series.”—SmexyBooks, Best Books of the Year
