Romance Book Review: E.A. Price's The Librarian and the Wolf

Author: E.A. Price
Series Connection: Grey Wolf Pack Romance Novellas
ISBN: n/a
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Shapeshifter Romance
Publisher: E.A. Price

Librarian Terri has moved to a new town and taken on a new job to get away from the past and a bad relationship. She hasn't given up completely on men, but decided that less meaningful relationships with younger men is the best plan for her right now. Her current fling is a sexy 19 year old wolf shifter named Mal and she's just fine with that.

Terri and Mal start to spend more time together, Terri worries she's getting a little to attached to Mal. At 28 she's starting to think about settling down and with Mal only being 19 she doesn't think he is, but what she doesn't realize is maybe Mal wants more too.

The author has created a world where we aren't too shocked that paranormals and supernaturals exist in this small town, which I liked, however the I wasn't too crazy about the characters. I wanted the heroine to be stronger. She'd broken up with her ex quite a while ago and had been having flings with younger men who seemed to find her attractive, so she should have more confidence in herself. The hero was just too young. I get that he's a 19 year old, but he could have acted a little more mature. Otherwise the book setting and secondary story lines were interesting and it was a short quick read so it gets some extra points for that. I will definitely try some of the other books in the series and see how they go before I give up on this author.

Terri Lin, human, librarian. Following a devastating heart break Terri came to the town of Rose to start over. Not wanting to suffer the same heartache she dated younger men who like her just wanted a bit fun. She thought her latest young wolf would be just the same. He’s handsome and charming, but also childish and inconsiderate. She knows he’s still young and wouldn’t want to be tied down. So why does she yearn for more?

Mal Tanner, wolf, Enforcer. He never expected to find his mate so early in life and yet from the moment he met the curvy little librarian he was smitten. Can he convince his mate that he’s the right wolf for her? Can he show her that he wants them to be together forever?

Or is someone else vying for her affection? Someone else who thinks dead birds nailed to her front door make a heartfelt gift...

Romance Book Review: Georgette St. Clair's Purr for the Alpha

Author: Georgette St. Clair
Series Connection: Timber Valley Pack
Genre: Shapeshifter Romance, Paranormal Romance
Publisher: Georgette St. Clair

Purchase Link: Amazon

In the second installment of the Timber Valley Pack, Ty Battle, cousin to Max Battle (Bride of the Alpha) and owner of the shifter club, The Zoo, fell for lynx shifter Karen over a year ago after she disappeared on him while they were getting reacquainted at his club. With her father in trouble with Ty's family pack now he has her right where he wants her.

When Karen's father was caught stealing from the Battles Ty give Karen a chance to get her father off. She has to move to his packs compound with her brother and sister, as well as work at his club as a waitress. Karen has been burned twice already by Ty and she doesn't want to spend any more time with him then she needs to, but she sees no other way to save her no good father. Now that Ty has her in his clutches, he's never letter Karen go, but with a father like Karen's it may be harder than he thinks to get her trust.

Well written, quick read for the second installment to the Timber Valley series. Great turn of events that will add to a secondary story for the rest of the series. Should be interesting to read how the series continues.

Ty is a strong alpha, but not quite as arrogant as Max's character. While I don't mind light BDSM, this case didn't really seem necessary in the story. Ty made a strong alpha, but the BDSM didn't seem part of his personality.

Cats and dogs don’t traditionally get along, but there’s one pussycat that Alpha shifter Ty Battle wants to set a-purrin’: sexy lynx shifter Karen Padfoot. Unfortunately, he’s got a terrible reputation as a player, and she’s scorned all of his advances after one interrupted encounter a year earlier.

When she comes to the Battle compound to plead for the release of her troublemaking father, who stole from the Battle’s warehouse, he’s finally got his chance; she’ll have to work for him as a waitress at his nightclub to pay off her father’s debt. Karen may be hissing and spitting mad, but if Ty has his way, he’ll collar this sexy kitty for good. Unfortunately, someone else wants to cage the feisty feline, and Ty’s the only one who can keep her safe. Will Karen let her barriers down and trust the sexy bachelor with the bad boy reputation before it’s too late?

Romance Book Review: Diana Palmer's Invincible

Author: Diana Palmer
Series Connection: Wyoming Bold, Long Tall Texans, Renegade, The Winter Soldier
ISBN: 978-0373778805
Genre: Western Romance, Contemporary Romance
Publisher: Harlequin

Purchase Link: Amazon

As formulas go, Diana Palmer has hers completely set and while there are those who think that she writes books that countlessly sound the same and the setting should be changed, she still sells millions of copies each year. Probably because why stop a good thing.

In Invincible, readers are back in Jacobsville and Comanche Wells, where Chief Cash
Grier's (Renegade) secretary, Carlie, life is threatened and Grier calls in Carlie's nemesis and man of her dreams, Carson. Carson is a jaded mercenary that deeply attracted to virgin Carlie. Carson knows better than to touch a preacher's daughter, especially when the preacher in question shares more in common with Carson then many know.

This story picks up where Wyoming Bold leaves off working on solving the mystery of the man who is pulling the strings behind the murder of a San Antonio DA. As with all of Palmer's heroes Carson has a history that has sent him into the mercenary business and Carlie knows that she isn't going to change the man, no matter how much love she sends his way.

While the romance formula is pretty much the same as many other Diana Palmer's series books, this one actually had a few different elements I appreciated. The writing didn't appear as stilted as I had notice in the previous few that I've read by this author. Fans who like business as usual with Diana Palmer will appreciate this book.

He's everything she fears…

and everything she wants

Mercenary by name and by nature, Carson is a Lakota Sioux who stays to himself and never keeps women around long enough for anything emotional to develop. But working with his friend Cash Grier on a complex murder investigation provides Carson with another kind of fun—shocking Cash's sweet-but-traditional secretary, Carlie Blair, with tales of his latest conquests.
Then Carlie lands in deep trouble. She saw something she shouldn't have, and now the face of a criminal is stored permanently in her photographic memory…and Carlie is the key piece of evidence that could implicate a popular politician in the murder case.

Her only protection is Carson—the man she once despised. But when she learns that Carson is more than just a tough guy, Carlie realizes she's endangered herself further. Because now her only chance to live means losing her heart to the most dangerous kind of man….

A familiar area she expects to have a fun trip of exploring the slopes by herself, until she finds that she is sharing her cabin with two brothers and learns something about herself that never knew.

In book two, Wolf Fight, Robyn brother, Tad, is experiencing some adventures of his own while Robyn is alone on her trip. Seeing his first crush again sets Tad's dormant wolf genes raging. Wonderful descriptive surrounding scenes makes you wish you were visiting the sight of Alaska and the Yukon region even in the blistering 25 degree temps. The characters we well established for such short books.

Wolf Games, the third book in the series has already been reviewed previously on my blog... here.

A split second is all it takes to pull the trigger on destiny.

Wolf Signs
Robyn’s deafness doesn’t stop her from taking the backcountry trip she’s been craving. Meeting a hot, ripped hunk-of-male at the Yukon cabin starts cravings of a different kind. And raises questions about wolves, mates, and duels to the death.
He wanted a quiet retreat before challenging for the pack Alpha position. Keil wasn’t planning on meeting his mate or discovering she’s not aware she has the genes of a wolf to go along with her attitude...

Wolf Flight
Tad’s workaholism keeps his bush-pilot company in the air, and his inner werewolf in check. Letting it loose would mean compromising his human principles. Then Missy re-enters his life, and their chemistry is off the charts, pushing him closer to the step he’s not sure it’s safe to take.

A wolf pack is a dangerous place to have secrets, and Missy’s corrupt Alpha has sniffed out her carefully hidden Omega powers. Her only choice is to get to Tad, and hope like hell his untapped powers are strong enough to negate her own…

Romance Book Review: Georgette St. Clair's Bride Of The Alpha

Author: Georgette St. Clair
Series Connection: Timber Valley Pack
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Shapeshifter Romance, BBW Paranormal Romance, Erotic Romance
Publisher: Georgette St. Clair

Purchase Link: Amazon

In an effort to help one of her college roommates, Camilla, wolf shifter Josephine Southpaw spends almost all her savings on a charm that will allow her to look exactly like Camilla. The idea is to save her friend from an arranged marriage to an alpha that Josephine has heard all kinds of rumors about.

When she gets to the wedding, posing as Camilla, she soon realizes she isn't fooling the groom who insists on taking care of the marriage first thing. Josephine's plans are further ruined, when the pack alpha convinces Josephine to stay for just a little while longer for the safety of her friend.

Just a nice overall book. The characters are nicely developed. Josephine is a big girl who has a lot of issues that stem back to her childhood. Alpha Max is a strong character that doesn't exactly play far and seems to have no problem with experience some hot sex scenes with Josephine, however since this is totally written in the first person on Josephine side readers don't have a good chance to examine, Max's character except that there is no doubt he is dominate and a strong alpha. This is the first in the series and would be interesting to see where the series continues.

The Timber Valley pack has a terrible reputation. Word is their males are dominant, kinky, and possessive – and Josephine’s best friend from college is being forced to marry one? No way!

Curvy wolf shifter Josephine Southpaw’s got the perfect solution. Using a magic charm, she’ll disguise herself as the slender, beautiful Camille on her wedding day – while Camille hightails it out of town with the wolf she really loves. Of course, the Alpha will ditch Josephine the second he gets her back to the wedding suite and sees what his chubby bride really looks like. What could possibly go wrong?

Well, for starters, Alpha Maxwell Battle is smokin’ hot. And he takes one look at Josephine and vows to never let her go – but he’s going to punish her for her trickery in deliciously sexy ways. And finally, Josephine’s friends keep staging well-intentioned rescue attempts, but she’s no longer sure she wants to be rescued.

But Josephine’s not the only one with secrets. It soon becomes very clear that Maxwell’s hiding something big, a secret that puts not only Josephine’s heart but her life at risk.

Romance Book Review: Mandy M. Roth's Administrative Control

Genre: Paranormal Romance, Military Romance, Shapeshifter Romance

Colonel Asher Brooks has a lot of secrets, but one that he never thought he would tell is that he found his mate over a thousand years before. In an effort to save her from himself, Asher doesn't tell succubus Jinx that not only are they mates but he is madly in love with her. When Jinx is in trouble, Asher risks all to save Jinx.

I really love this this series, but was a little disappointed in this book. Although the author warned it was going to be a short story, novella, I thought there was a lot of repetition in the story that could have been cut and added more to the love story. The short story did continue the series and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the next story.

No one knows just how powerful Colonel Asher Brooks is. It's a secret he's fond of keeping. As point person for the Immortal Ops, he has seen just about everything the supernatural community has to offer. That is,until he arrives on the docks in Seattle to find a mess his men didn't make. Something big is going down there and it means business. His concern is for Jinx, a leggy redheaded succubus who calls the area home. He's spent centuries denying what he knows to be true, thinking he's keeping his woman safe and that it's for the best.

When Jinx calls to tell him she has information for him, he worries the woman who drives him mad with lust might be in danger. He'll do anything to protect her, even if that means claiming her for his own, whether she's up for being claimed or not.

Book intended for mature audiences.

** Administrative Control was originally going to be a short story (10k words) but ended up running longer into a novella length.

Terra left her pack 10 years earlier with no plans to ever return again. She and her father, alpha of the pack, had never gotten along and when she got the chance to escape she took it just like her older sister had before her.

When her father catches up with her, he tells her that he wants an heir and if she doesn't bring him  her nephew than he will take her and she will have to provide him with an heir.

Not knowing what else to do, Terra goes to meet her nephew and is surprised to see that the a local wolf is someone she has met before.

This is the first story for author Aimee Easterling and was a good start to the Wolf Rampant series. If you are one to love erotic werewolf romance, you won't find anyone here, but still the romance between Terra and Wolfie works out well. Despite the fact that the book is well written I would have like a little more time between the two. While there is a spark there it didn't really have time to turn into the flame that would have made the two perfect for each other.

PMS is no fun for werewolves.

Forget the full moon, female werewolves shift uncontrollably at that time of the month. But after years of practice, teenaged Terra learns to squash her wolf, which allows her to flee the repressive village where she grew up.

A decade later, Terra realizes she has an even worse problem. After hiding from her wolf for so long, she is now shiftless, unable to change back into canine form.

When her father shows up with an ultimatum, Terra knows she'll have to learn to shift or return to her place in her family's pack. Will Wolfie, a nearby alpha who's more wolf than man, be a stumbling block in Terra's quest to maintain her freedom?

As Terra struggles to escape two werewolf packs that seem poised to suck her back in, the real question becomes --- does she really want to stay away?

Rose had a rough childhood, losing her parents early in life, she gets the chance to really experience the family bond. This leaves her very insecure. In adulthood she holds dear the friendships she developed with her best friend Anna and her boys, as well as her foster brothers. When she meets Simon and his family, she gets a completely different experience of love and family.

Simon knows right away that Rose is his mate even though she is human. Can he convince her that his feelings are true before someone else kidnaps her and takes her for his own?

I love this story and so far this series. While this story is pure paranormal fantasy it touches on bringing to life post traumatic stress that many soldiers go through. With the loves and support of his family Simon begins to come back to the man he used to be. Rose is a strong character who doesn't have a problem of taking care of herself when she needs to. I love the way she was able to keep calm under duress. Very well done.

NOTE: Complete novel. No cliffhanger. Dual POV. Rated 18+ for language and strong sexual content.

Four years of honorably serving his country has left Simon, Cade’s younger brother, damaged and trapped in wolf form. Little did he know the only person with the ability to heal him completely would be found at home. Literally. Now that he’s found her, he is desperate to claim her.

Rafa is career military and facing the prospect of discharge after being wounded and losing his hand and part of his leg. Soon he may not know where his life is going to go in the future, but he knows he wants Emily included in it.

First the two need to get past their family, Rafa's old girlfriend and an unexpected job offer.

This book took a little getting into. I liked the characters and the issues they were tackling, but where I thought Rafa as a special forces leader, would be a little more alpha and Emily as a psychologist would have a little more of a handle on all her own problems, as well as those who were conspiring against her relationship.

Rafael Carpenter left behind everything in Afghanistan when his unit was nearly annihilated. Now he’s back home, trying to fit the pieces back together, and learning to survive with the injuries that nearly took his life.

Still recovering from the loss of her boyfriend a year ago, curvy Emily isn’t ready to meet another man, even if one would have her. Now Jackson has been badly injured after escaping captivity from a group of vampires and the blue, full moon brings him to Eden's veterinarian clinic in wolf form. At one time he vowed to himself that he wouldn't mix Eden up in his world, but now that she's patched him up and he's seen that she's his, he must decide what he'll do. Should he throw her into his world of killer vampires and nightly hunts, or leave her be before alerting the vampires to who she is?

When Jackson walks back into her life and wants to start where they left off, Eden doesn't know if she wants to get involved with him again, he's had his chance, but the sexy Breaux brother has a way about him. Can Eden resist or will she give the sexy werewolf another chance?

I liked this segment of the Blue Moon Bride series. I love the use of the down home cajun accent the author has given Jackson, it makes him sound all the more sexy. He's tough and not quite as sure of himself as Eden thinks he is. Eden is a no holds bard veterinarian who thinks she wants to be in charge of a nice vanilla relationship, but does she really?

Meet the Breaux brothers. These bayou bad boys walk on the wild side in more ways than one. They’re Pack and werewolves, centuries-old shape shifters, and their survival depends on finding a mate when the blue moon rises…

Damian Karlsson his set his sights on Rachel Perkins. He knows that she is the woman he's supposed to settle down with. She's everything he believes a wife should be and he will fight to make her his, even if he has to fight her.

Rachel likes Damian but her past stops her from taking their friendship farther to a series relationship, much less marriage. As she gets to know him, she knows all is lost because the future that Damian wants for them, is not something that Rachel can give him.

This Christian novel includes several verses of scripture.

The story is pretty common themed, but generally a well written book with two strong lead characters and a supporting cast. The book is a good start for the first in a series.

Book 1 of the Christian romance series, Those Karlsson Boys, Waiting for Rachel introduces readers to the Karlsson family and their stories of family, faith & love.

Damian is determined to find out why.

Though she is attracted to Damian and even finds his pursuit of her flattering, Rachel is equally determined to keep her secrets close to her heart. Betrayed in the past by men she's loved, she isn’t prepared to take that risk again. Good world building in this Montana set paranormal story. This story reads fast and while the hero and the heroine appear to be worlds apart in who they are the author brings them together well in the end.

Romance Book Review: Shirl Anders' Their Ex's Redrock Serial Bundle 1-4

Author: Shirl Anders
Series Connection: Texas Alpha

Genre: Contemporary romance

Tess knows that her husband is fooling around on her again and she follows him one rainy night to finally confront him, but she is side tracked when, Vincent, the husband of the women her husband is cheating with stops her before she can finally have her say.

Vincent just needs a couple of days before he confronts his cheating wife to make sure she doesn't come after the charities he supports.

After a drunken night Tess and Vincent wind up in bed together. Dealing the aftermath of their spouses affair, Tess and Vincent work to get their lives back and can't help but fall for each other in the process, but with Vincent's crazy wife, Tess' idiot husband and the mob, can these to ever be together.

This series was originally sold separately and then sold as a complete book. I found it in the Curves For Him: 10 Delicious Tales by Aubrey Rose, Dez Burke, A.T. Mitchell and Catherine Vale (Jun 15, 2014). So far it is the best in the anthology. It was so good in fact, I decided to check out what other books that Shirl Anders' writes and found that one can purchase just this series, as well as the second book in the series Their Ex's Redrock Midnight (Texas Alpha) by Shirl Anders (Feb 9, 2014)

As far as this serial goes, number one let me say, I'm not a fan of serials, so I'm glad that I found the book bundled together. I'd rather read the whole story than waiting for others to come. More importantly to me, I loved both the lead characters and their friends Rusty and Cade, who make up the next story, as well as Finn. I hope we get to see Finn and here his story in another book. In their own ways even the ex's were good characters and fit the story just right.

As for Tess and Vincent, I was excited to see a BBW herione that, although had a few insecurities about her body's shape, she didn't let it define her. Tess is a successful business woman, who went after what she wanted. She had a sweet personality, but was made of steel where it counted. I liked that.

How Vincent ever hooked up with his ex, I still haven't figured out. He was the perfect alpha in training where Tess was concerned. Strong and sexy with enough toughness to let him come out the victor in any fight.

I'm glad I got to find the story available for sale separately so that people can check it out for themselves.

A man and a woman find themselves drawn to each other after they discover their spouses' affair.

Tess is set to catch her husband. She runs toward the hotel in a thunderstorm seeing a couple in a clench on an outside balcony. She opens her mouth to scream at them when a man grabs her, shutting off her scream. Tess learns the tall, dark, and powerful man is Vincent Whitehorse and it's his wife having an affair with her husband.

Vincent and Tess find themselves drunk in a rainstorm trying to cover their pain, then they find they have an amazing and instantaneous connection of the lips. When Tess falls into bed with Vincent they combust like nothing Tess has felt before. However both their ex-spouses are crazy. Tess' ex-husband has unwittingly hooked up with the mob while Vincent's ex-wife thinks she's the next Cher.

Can Vincent convince Tess to believe in him when things around them are unbelievable in this hot and very sexy second chance at romance?

*This is the completed serial of Their Ex's Redrock 1-4 (Texas Alpha) bundled and with a bit more dialog for Vincent added with no cliff-hangers involved.

Romance Book Review: Ella Jade's A Love Discovered

Author: Ella Jade
Series Connection: The Steeple Town
Digital ISBN: 9781940744254
Genre: Erotic Contemporary Romance
Publisher: Beachwalk Press, Inc

Purchase Link: Beachwalk

Doing a favor for a friend, Cali Tate makes a delivery to the reclusive newcomer. When she realizes what a sexy man Dr. Carter Stavros is she decides she would really like to get to know the man even if all he wants is to be left alone.

Carter came to Steeple to get away, finish his book and most of all get away from people. When he meets Cali, he starts to wonder if maybe being alone isn't everything he thought it was going to be. Cali is impulsive and full of life, everything Carter isn't.

With two completely different people is it possible for a future together? That is the main question these two characters have to answer.

Cali is stubborn and aggressive, just what Carter and his OCD tendencies need. This is a classic love story of two souls who are so completely opposite that they couldn't not fall in love. There is even the dubious friend who has doubts, sowing seeds for one of the characters. Even with so much classic style romance I adore the characters and am looking forward to reading Jenson's story next.

When they met, love was the last thing they were looking to discover…

Local bar owner Cali Tate has always been trendy, easy-going, and impulsive. She isn't afraid to take chances, but her carefree attitude may have put her restaurant in jeopardy. Her failing business is beginning to take a toll on her, both mentally and financially. When her best friend asks her to do a favor and take some books to the town's reclusive professor Cali welcomes the distraction. To her surprise, the sexy professor is nothing like she had pictured him.

Dr. Carter Stavros wants to be left alone. He's set in his ways and doesn't want to be bothered with the outside world. Wanting to escape the demons of his recent past, he moved to Steeple, taking a sabbatical from his teaching job to write a book. He wasn't prepared for the spunky, persistent bar owner to invade his life. But the more she pushes, the more intrigued he becomes.
Neither one of them expected to find any common ground, much less fall in love.

What happens when an OCD professor collides with a risk-taking woman who won't take 'no' for an answer?

Now they are forced together again as Caroline is accused of killing the man found at her dig site.

This is a fairly quick read story with light suspense and a bit of a mystery. This man is a stranger to Caroline and even Rand doesn't believe that she didn't kill him. I've read more intense, suspenseful mysteries, this one book is good for those who don't want to delve into an all out hardcore mystery novel. The writing is well executed and the characters well developed.

Bones, bodies, and a love rekindled.

Paleontologist Caroline Priest is shocked when she finds a dead body at her dig site. When she calls it in to the sheriff's department, her former boyfriend, Rand Callahan, comes out to investigate. The evidence quickly starts to point to Caroline being the killer, and Rand has no choice but to arrest her.

To make matters worse she won't be able to spend her time with Tomi anymore. Although she knew he didn't have the same feelings for her as she had for him, she would miss him dearly.

When Tomi shows up missing, Gillian will do anything she can to help find him and then prepare herself to walk away from him forever.

This is the third and final installment to the Reunion series. Although all too quickly the story has been wrapped up. This series has the potential for a much larger exploration and although this part of the story is over I hope the author decides to incorporate some future stories in the world of Reunion.

The end game is looming, but whether the last of the Ito family will find his happily ever after is in the balance.

Tomi Ito must deal with the knowledge that the woman he's loved forever, Gillian Edgemont, thinks he's abandoned her in her time of need. But when he's abducted, she's there to help save him.

Romance Book Review: Imogene Nix's The Assassin

Author: Imogene Nix
Series Connection: The Reunion Trilogy
Digital ISBN: 9781940744209
Genre: Science Fiction, Futuristic Romance

Kumi Ito is the head of Finance on Reunion and has discovered a great many discrepancies with the financial documents left by her predecessor and she feels that Reunion will fall to ruin if she can't find an answer, but a distress call from her brother, Senator Tomi Ito, has her dealing with more pressing problems.

Captain Carmichael Snow, who helped save Selina in the first Reunion book, has found a group is plotting to kill Kumi.

Carmichael has been in love with Kumi since they first met at Selina and Ren's wedding. Now he has to protect her and find out who is trying to kill her before it is too late.

This series has a lot of potential, however as it came to the second and third book it was just too short. It was a little disappointing because I would have liked to see more of a development of characters and world building. What I did see I liked and give it high praise for that reason.

Kumi Ito has her mission, as does Carmichael Snow, but are their objectives compatible?
Kumi Ito is a woman with a problem. Since assuming the role of head of the Commerce Department, she's found discrepancies…the kind that could cause anarchy if the truth got out.
When Carmichael Snow, the commander of the Emancipation, comes across intelligence that someone has placed a hit on Kumi, he has to save her. His plan? Hide her and find the assassin.
As they dodge the killer, a passion ignites between them that runs from simmering all the way to steamy. But will the actions of one snatch away their happiness before they can accept what is growing between them?

Content Warning: This book features a buff, hot guy and a kick-butt heroine. Naturally, hot scenes will follow.

Romance Book Review: Leslie Gould's Courting Cate

Author: Leslie Gould
Series Connection: Courtships of Lancaster County
ISBN: 978-1-4412-6049-9
Genre: Amish Romance
Publisher: Bethany House Publishers

Purchase Link: Amazon

Cate Miller has come to terms with the fact that no one wants to court or marry her, except maybe if it meant having a piece of her father's money. Her father on the other hand would like to see her married and giving him grandchildren, so he make a rule. Her younger sister can't court or get married until Cate does.

This does not make her happy and she hopes she can convince her father to break his rule and leave her to spinster life she assumed she'd have.

Pete is looking to settle down in a new Amish community after traveling around for seven months. He makes clear to Cate he is looking to do some courting, get married and start a family. He also tells her he is dirt poor and that makes Cate believe he is just another looking for what her father's money can offer to his future.

When her sister pushes Cate to let Pete court her, Cate begins to like Pete until her overhears a secret that changes everything.

This is a heart-warming version of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. Cate's insecurities are believable, even if some of the facts around the Amish community don't ring quite true. The story is told from the first person and enough hints are distributed throughout the pages that you get to know the other characters in the story, even though I would have liked to have had more true interaction between Pete and Cate.

When This Couple Gets to Courting, Sparks Will Fly!

In Paradise, Pennsylvania, Cate Miller is known more for her sharp tongue and fiery temper than her striking appearance. Her sweet and flirty sister, Betsy, on the other hand, seems to have attracted most of the bachelors in Lancaster County!

But the sisters' wealthy father has made one hard-and-fast rule: older Cate must marry first, before younger Betsy can even start courting. Unfortunately, untamable Cate has driven away every suitor--until Pete Treger comes to town, that is.

Prodded by the men of the area, Pete turns his attention to winning Cate's hand. But is his interest true or is there a scheme at play?

In Maddy Barone's After the Crash series book six, she takes readers to where she left off after book five at the ranch of the Dirk family where wolf shifter, Snake Wolfe, has agreed to help his new mate, Melissa and her brothers find their mother who was kidnapped 11 years before.

Melissa isn't so sure about her new mate. She agreed to marry him after he rescued her from former brothers-in-law who, after winning her in a bride fight, wanted to rape and murder her because she killed their brother.

Now home Maddy only hopes to see her mother again. As she gets to know Snake, she has to deal with living with being a woman in a society mostly composed of men and the repercussions of her past.

Snake Wolfe has finally found his mate and will do anything to keep her happy and safe. With the help of his cousin, Stone, he sets out to find Melissa's mother so that he can take his mate back home to the pack with him where he can keep her safe from harm.

Melissa is one of the strongest female characters that readers have seen in this series. She's been through hell and back with the best intentions of keeping her mother safe. I like this sci-fi series and the world that the author has created in a way to bring both a post-apocalyptic future and paranormal shifter genres together with imaginative descriptions of what the new world would look like.

In a post-apocalyptic future, a woman desperate to save her mother marries the werewolf who promises to help her. Wolf’s Vengeance takes you once again into the dangerous and passion-filled world created by Maddy Barone in her amazing romance series, After the Crash.

In a future world where modern technology is unknown and women are rare, werewolf Snake Wolfe claimed Melissa Dirk as his mate the moment he laid eyes on her. All he wants is her love for him to match his for her. Mel will do anything to save her stolen mother, even marry the fierce werewolf who promises to help with the rescue. Love? Well … maybe she’ll love him someday.

When trouble from Mel’s past threatens her very life, Snake swears anyone who wants to hurt her will have to go through him, and he will avenge every insult dealt her. Can love be born in blood? Or will Snake have to settle for merely his wife’s gratitude?
