Spark of Desire is the second book in the Arden FD series featuring Kevin's story. Kevin watched his best friend fall in love and almost give up his career for the woman he loves. Now that Jack is getting married, Kevin starts thinking about his own life. Looking for information on taking a trip to Ireland he starts talking to Jessica at the book store.

Not knowing why, he agrees to help her get ready for the test that will help her dream of being a paramedic come true. Now they will be spending the next three months together getting her in shape and ready for the test and completing the first step to realizing her dream.

Jessica can't believe that she has let her dream go so long that she has one year left before it is too late. When Kevin offers to help her she jumps at the chance, but it isn't long before Kevin is sending her mixed singles and she isn't sure whether he is sorry he offered to help her or not. To make matters worse her parents and best friend thinks she's crazy for do this at all.

Kevin wants to help Jessica, but his desire for her builds everyday and he doesn't know what to do.

Spark of Desire brings together a nice ensemble of characters. Both Kevin and Jessica are interesting separate and together. The story goes into detail of what it would take for a woman to apply for a position in fire department giving realism to the story line. While this was a romantic based story, I liked the fact that Jessica's personality was strong and able to hold her own without getting whimpy and mushy about everything that happens between them.

Description:
When she turns thirty, Jessica realizes time is running out if she wants to pursue her dream of being a firefighter and paramedic. Kevin offers her the opportunity to make her dream a reality, but both are unprepared for the flames of desire their meeting ignites.

But what’s with Kevin? He flirts with her, then pushes her away. Not that she needs the complication of starting a new job with a reputation anyway. Jessica decides she’ll just concentrate on her training instead of the dreamy guy who can’t make up his mind.

Friends complicate the matter even further, wreaking havoc on Jessica’s plans to stay focused solely on her goal. As Jessica’s tests approach, she and Kevin must come to terms with their burgeoning love for each other. Will circumstances snuff their chances for happiness?
