In book 5 of the Silver Town Wolf Series the MacTire sisters are finishing up their work on the town Inn and just in time for Christmas. But the sisters have big secret that they aren't sharing with the town, the wolf pack they have joined when moving to the area or CJ Silver, who has made it clear he has a special interest in the oldest MacTire sister Laurel. When his alpha assigns CJ to stay at the in to keep on eye on a group that is out to find ghosts at the hotel there are a lot more secrets that come to life.

Laurel and her sisters came to town and purchased the old Inn in hopes of finding out what happened to their aunt years ago when she disappeared. They can't tell the pack or CJ because they don't know who to trust, but when CJ and Laurel begin to spend time together, Laurel knows she won't be able to keep her secrets for long and soon she'll need CJ's help to solve the mystery.

While this story is book 5 in the series, there is enough information within the story so that it isn't necessary to read the other stories to enjoy this book. The story offers good storyline with likable characters. The introduction to the secondary characters for possible secondary stories in the series was just enough to interest readers to take a look forward and backward in the series. One of the best parts about the story was the background mystery from the past and the description of the world around the hero and heroine, right down to the scenery of the fictional town.

Women came from far and wide after hearing about secret tiger shifters, who with a pull of their tail, will become mated for life. After finding out that her new boyfriend is a secret tiger shifter and inadvertently announcing weretigers' existence to the world, reporter Zoe just has to go back and see if she can talk to her weretiger and apologize. She isn't sure she isn't going to make it out alive, but she has to try.

Ares has worked hard to protect his pride and all the weretigers out there. When all the other kinds of shifters stepped into the public eye and revealed themselves the tigers stayed in hiding, until one reporter left the cat out of the bag. Unfortunately it was his fault because he had to have Zoe and as the leader of all the weretigers it was his job to get the tigers out of this mess. 

Things aren't always what they seem, but can Zoe convince the tigers that she isn't there to hurt them before the swarm of women start pulling all the tails. 

One of my favorite Celia Kyle books I read so far, with the exception of the fact that the story starts in the middle of their love affair. I kept wanting to read how the two met and how their first interactions.

Unfortunately, that means he has to also spend more time with Chloe's instructor Francie. So far the two haven't hit it off real well.

Francie Bennett needed to come home from college to not only help her parents when her father becomes ill, but become she finds herself pregnant after her cheating ex-boyfriend leaves her. Now with a new plan to prove herself after making the big mistake of her life, Francie doesn't see herself having time for a man in her life. 

Feeling their way through their growing relationship, Francie and Matt come against some challenges that threaten their happily ever after. 

An emotional contemporary romance, this story runs slow a few times throughout the story, but a good story so keep reading. Both Francie and Matt have a lot to work out before they find the HEA.

Those where the plans, but circumstances change quickly, but is it too quickly for Josie to understand what her new life will be back?

Explaining how the wolves made their way from the US was interesting, however it would have been more interesting if the author would have done more scene setting throughout the book. As it was it didn't matter whether they were in London, or the US as the story was presented. 

Not sure this book is planned to be the first in a series, but the Whisper Pride Pack looks like it would make a good shifter series with future stories about other members of the pack.

It doesn't take long for Billy to be completely enamored with Thea, but he isn't sure that he should try to mate with her. For one thing, she's from a rich family which is so out of his own social status and second of all he is still working on finishing what he came to the city for in the first place before anyone else gets hurt.

The odds aren't looking good for Billy when Joshua poisons Billy and sends him a challenge he can't refuse.

Ready to Bear is a spin off of the Greyelf Grizzly Clan where Billy is the local sheriff who's relationship with Maren was cut short when Lukas comes back to town and decides to take back his mate. The author describes this as a stand alone story, however I found that it would have been interesting to read the four part Greyelf series first to get a more in depth view of the world the author has created. This story also introduces the characters to the new Urban Dwellers series, first book to be released in November, and the introduction of the three alphas involved in that series.

Billy is a straight forward, what you see is what you get kind of character. I also liked Thea, as she's no push over. I liked the world the author creates, however I thought the end left too many questions, that I'm sure will be answered in the new series, but again doesn't make this book much of a standalone.

Romance Book Review: Debbie Macomber's Country Brides

Originally a two book series from the early 1990s, Country Brides, puts both stories together in one book.

The first book tells the story of finding a home in a small Oregon community far from the city life. Deciding to take a road trip to get away from the city and think about her relationship with stockbroker Dan, Rorie heads to Seattle only to get sidetracked when her borrowed car breaks down on an off the path country road. There she meets young Skip who brings her home to his country ranch to enlist the help of his older brother Clay to fix her car.

Taking to the friendly community, Rorie spends a few days waiting for her car to get fixed quickly falling in love with the small town and Clay. Clay is quite taken with Rorie as well. The only problem is Clay isn't available. Everyone is waiting for him to finally propose to his longtime girlfriend Kate.

Of course there is a happy ending for Rorie and Clay, which brings us to book two, where poor Kate has to attend the love of her life, Clay's, wedding. Hoping to fool everyone in town that she's happy for her new friend Rorie is marrying Clay she intends to keep a smile on her face throughout the ceremony and reception. Her friend and the foreman of her father's ranch, Luke, is more than happy to help her out with that problem.

Kate has had her eyes so focus on Clay, she doesn't even realize that Luke is even interested in her. So when she leans on him at the wedding and has a little too much to drink and proposes to Luke, he jumps at the chance and when she tries to take back her proposal the next day he won't hear anything of the kind.

Luke seems to be convinced that Kate is really in love with him and has been all along, but couldn't see past her crush on Clay. Now Luke has to work hard to get Kate to realize that he's the man for her.

Keep in mind as you're reading this book that it was written in 1990. A simpler time without cell phones and apparently not Fed-X overnight either (although I don't think that's true it just cost a lot more back in the day.) Even so, the book is well written and tells a good story without a lot of the complications in life to get in the way.

If you're looking for a happy story with well liked, everyday people, here's a story for you.

This is the seventh book in the Paranormal Dating Agency series. These are all stand alone stories featuring BBW and shifters looking for the right woman, all who need help from the gifted Gerri Wilder. This story follows the same pattern as the others in the series. This is the second book in the series to take place on the shifter planet.

The short story is a quick read that tells the basic same theme as in previous books in this series. The stories are well written just the same and worth checking out.

However, if you like dirty, raunchy sex with not one, but TWO sexy as sin wolves on one curvy sarcastic girl, then this is right up your alley. Enjoy!

Coming upon a young girl being attacked, wolf shifter Reid strikes first and asks questions later, he probably wouldn't have killed the guy if he would have stopped first but the big bear shifter wouldn't stop. Calling into his boss, the Southwest Itan, Reid has to pass on the news and releases he killed the local Itan and now he was the new clan leader.

When Evelyn called for help she knew she needed to hold on until help arrived. That wasn't easy to do when her uncles were set to killing her after she finally told them who she called.

When Reid finally comes to her rescue and takes out two of her three uncles at once, she knows she's finally found her hero and he works out to be her mate.

Reid isn't sure if he is Itan material after all he's a wolf now in charge of a clan filled with wolves, but when it comes to down to it, the clan is his and he will do everything to protect all that belongs to him. That especially includes Evelyn.

Reid isn't your average hero. He has a lot of rage issues, but I just loved him with Evelyn. Slowly you get to know him and realize that he isn't your average hero, but he'll do whatever he has to to keep everyone safe. This was one of Celia Kyle's longer books and I'm glad she took the time to introduce her character and gave us a chance to see the two together in more scenes than just in the bedroom.

Romance Book Review: Dahlia West's Shooter

Meet the men at Burnout, a group of ex-Army Rangers making their place back in the world after serving their country. Chris "Shooter" Sullivan is the teams leader. He moved back to his home town and brought what was left of his former team with him. When his friend Maria calls him about his rental unit for a new employee Shooter doesn't want to trust her, but slowly she worms her way into his heart.

When "Hayley" gets off the bus in yet another small town she keeps to her routine and works to just live another day. She's on the run and has been for a long time. Maria takes her in as a new employee at her biker bar. For "Hayley" this is supposed to be just another temporary place to stay until she can go home again. That is until she meets Chris and his team mates. 

While on the run she's made friends before, but no one she ever wanted to be close to until she meets Chris and his group. 

This is another of those books that might not appeal to everyone. It seemed to have all my favorites in the book-- romance (in some places the sex was just a little too much), suspense, humor--everything that makes a book good. But at the same time it was a bit disjointed. For instance in the beginning of the book Hayley seemed like a street-wise hard ass. She knew to keep her head down, protected herself from jerks be placing the dresser in front of her door, that kind of thing. Then midway through the book she suddenly turns into Susie homemaker. That part seem so out of character for her and not someone that Shooter would be interested in at all. Without saying too much, at the end she turns back into the heroine you'd expect from the beginning of the book. 

At times it also seemed a bit long and while it was giving the readers a chance to really see who Hayley was and explain her story, (another part I wasn't crazy about when it happened). 

The saving grace for this story for me was that I did wind up liking all the characters and was interested in seeing where the rest of them ended up throughout the series. I think I'd like to try again and read on of the other books in the series and see if it makes a better impression.

But circumstances force two people who don’t need anyone to need each other more and more. The more Chris gets to know Hayley, the harder it is to stay detached. And the more Hayley gets to know Chris, the more she realizes she’s been alone for so long she might never recover from it.

Romance Book Review: Rachel Van Dyken's Bang Bang

Whenever she needed him Ax was there for her. She knew him throughout her childhood and he had always taken care of her. Kept her safe from her family and his. Until one night she was forced to run away with him dying on the ground from gun shot wounds and in all likelihood dead. Or at least that was what she was led to believe.

Years later when she has hit rock bottom, out of money with very little choices left, Ax once again comes to Amy's rescue. Finding out he isn't dead brings mixed emotions to Amy because him being back in her life may mean her life is over.

This novella is middle book in the Eagle Elite mafia series. All of the books are made a stand alone reads, however it is a series that connects the characters together so readers may want to read the series from the beginning.

The story is set in first person from both Amy and Ax's point of view. There is a lot covered in this one short story and gives enough of Amy and Ax's story, plus the others in the series to generate an interest and move forward or backward in the series.

Although well written and a good storyline, this is not a warm and fuzzy sweet romance. There is some violence, although I suspect not as much as the earlier and later novels. Ax's character is totally alpha but more sensitive than one would expect for a Mafia hit man and Amy isn't as hardcore as the women usually portrayed in Mafia style romance. Both characters are easy to like and work well together. Definitely a good read for a lazy afternoon, if you like the real bad boys.

Romance Book Review: Lacey Wolfe's Virgin Cowboy

For as far back as Braden can remember he's admired bar owner and single mother Courtney, but while they are friends he doesn't think she's even noticed him as boyfriend material. When telling him about her latest bad date Braden blurts out his feelings and asks her out for a date. When she says no, Braden can only decide it is time to move on.

Courtney has always like Braden. He was easy to talk to and definitely easy on the eyes. She's taken by surprise when Braden expresses an interest in dating her. With the age difference between them and her being a single mother why would he be interested. 

When Braden stops coming around the bar, Courtney suddenly misses him being around and wonders if she spoke too soon and maybe she should consider dating Braden after all. 

But while the two are taking their time getting to know each other, Braden wonders if maybe he should explain his lack of experience with women and not everyone is as excited about the two of them spending time together.

While this is book three of the Carver Ranch Series it didn't seem necessary to read the previous books to enjoy this book, although you might want to.  

I'm a Lacey Wolfe fan, although I've read more of her erotic romances than contemporary romances, I may have to chase down some of her contemporaries. The Virgin Cowboy was fast moving contemporary romance.

I like the fact that she stepped back and created Braden's character outside of the box. He had his own alpha tendencies but wasn't the average man-whore type that are so often portrayed in short romance stories where the men are often out sowing their oats and sleeping with all the women in the bar before finally meeting their one true love who takes them away from all of that. 

Braden is more true to himself and feels strongly about his beliefs. Good writing backs up her story line, especially in creating the perfect woman for Braden. You'll have to read the story to really see how the two, although different, work well together.

I loved this story. Already I've started to get to know the characters of this series and can't wait to see how the others in the Buchanan clan get to meet their mates. I understand that Mina Carter has also released a book that takes place in Deals Gap called "Werelock" and the whole town of mixed shifters was founded by Eliza Gayle with her Southern Shifters series. So far Celia Kyle is doing a good job continuing Eliza Gayle's stories.

This is a serial of three book that has been put together into one collection, however be warned that while this story ends with a HEA for Michael and Aiden it does continue with the underlying mystery.

As for this story be prepared for some very erotic scenes as Michael and Aiden navigate their way in their relationship. I wish these two made a love match, but really Michael seems to spend a great deal of the book doing the honorable thing and his shift to wanting to make a go of there relationship doesn't seem to have any reason. I might have liked to see more time away from the bedroom scenes and more time with the two getting to really know each other.

That being said the story line did keep my attention and I liked Aiden's character a lot. So I can give it some credit for generally being well written and good suspense. I'd take a chance and read the next part of the series to see where the background story leads.
